Collingwood NEWHAM was born in Collingwood, Victoria on 22nd June 1871

His parents were Collingwood NEWHAM & Elizabeth Ann WELLS

He married Fanny CHECKLEY in Footscray on 19th April, 1890 - known children were Helen, David, Ethel, Alice, George, Isabella, Leslie & Albert

He served as a Private during the Boer War with the 1st Victorian Mounted Rifles and was invalided home to Australia arriving on 5th January, 1901

He died in Fairfield, Victoria on 7th May, 1933 and is buried in the Fawkner Cemetery

His brothers Henry NEWHAM (SN 1243) & William NEWHAM (SN 1662) also served during the Boer War
