When Jeremiah O'brien enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. B. Layton, Scone, NSW. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 1 p. 46, it is noted he gave his address as Warwick, Qld.
Jeremiah O'brien noted on his WW1 Attestation Form that he was born on 26 Oct 1874 at Tamworth, NSW.
When he enlisted for WW1 he noted on his Attestation Form dated 8 May 1918 that; he was born at Tamworth on 26 Oct 1874 and was 43 years 7 months old; he was single and a labourer living at Surry Hills, NSW; his N.O.K. was his brother James O'brien at Attunga near Tamworth; and he had previously served in the Qld Field Artillery prior to serving 12 months in the Boer War.
