When Samuel Francis Osborne enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Ape 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as W. H. Osborne, Brisbane. In the original Nominal Roll for the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, it is noted his N.OK. was his father W. H. Osborne, Brisbane.

Samuel Francis Osborne was born on 30 Jan 1877 in Queensland, a son to William Henry Osborne an Jane Osborne (nee Peat). He married Fanny Ellen Bailey on 18 Jan 1906 in Queensland and they had 1 child.
