Add my storyBiography contributed by Claude McKelvey
When William Palmer enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB his N.O.K. was noted in the Boer War Service Paybooks held by Qld State Archives as his mother Mrs. E. Palmer at Hemmant, Qld. However, with his photo published in The Queenslander newspaper 16 Mar 1901, p. 516, he again noted his N.O.K. as his mother but under a different syrname, Mrs. Wood at Hemmant, Qld. Online family history sites indicate he also used the name William Palmer-Wood.
BDM Qld has his birth registered as William Palmer on 25 Nov 1883 in Queensland, a son to Henry Wood and Ellen Daly Wood, with the same parents noted on his death registration. It would appear he was born before his mother married Henry Wood. William Palmer married Eileen May Michel, date and place unkonwn.
