From a newspaper article: RETURNING QUEENSLANDERS. ARRIVAL BY THE MORAYSHIRE. (By Telegraph from Our Correspondent.)
PERTH, May 29. The steamer Morayshire, with the returned troops from South Africa, arrived at Fremantle yesterday, and left again in the evening. She has on board the following officers and men for Queensland :- Third

In the 1903 Electoral Roll, William was back in Stewart's Creek, working as a labourer, living with Mary Ann Parkinson. He is believed to have married Mary Ann Crompton in Townsville in 1902 and together, they had a son George William Parkinson (born 1905). Sadly, Mary Ann passed away in 1906. William Parkinson's whereabouts after this point are not known.
