Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

When William Parsons enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father H. Parsons, Kent St, Rockhampton. It appears this is incorrect in terms of the town nominated as Rockhampton. In the original nominal roll for the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, his N.O.K. is recorded as his father H. Parsons, Kent St, Toowoomba.

In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 1 p. 80, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his father Mr. H. Parsons, Kent St, The Range, Toowoomba. In a registration notice of electoral list qualification for the districts of Drayton and Toowoomba appearing in The Darling Downs Gazette, 15 Dec 1900, it shows William Parsons; age 21; a bricklayer; and residing with H. Parsons, Kent St, Main Range- registered 1 Dec 1900.
