When Adolph Philipofski enlisted in 1899 in the 1st QMI and his details were published with the rank and file in The Brisbane Courier, 18 Nov 1899, he was recorded as Private A. Philipofski, Post Office, Bundaberg. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 1st QMI, Bk 1 p. 91, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his wife Mrs. A. Philipofski, Post Office, Bundaberg. He was invalided from service due to Enteric Fever returning to Brisbane where he was discharged on 26 Sep 1900.

Adolph Philipofski was born on 26 Nov 1869 in Germany, a son to August Philipofski and Wilhelmiena Philipofski (nee Orschofski), and emigrated to Australia with his parents at a young age. He married Mary Annie Hilda Schafer on 17 Jun 1891 at Bundaberg. They went on to reside at Isis where he was a farmer.
