Served in the First Queensland Mounted Infantry Contingent, "B" Company, in the Boer War, 1899-1902.
Major P.W.G. Pinnock, A.I Staff. B Company; Promoted to Brevet-Major; Staff Officer with the advanced base of the Mounted Infantry Brigade from July to November 1900; Queen's Medal with 3 clasps.

Philip William Grant PINNOCK was born in Tamworth, NSW on 17th July, 1859
His parents were Philip PINNOCK & Mary Ann MUNRO
He married Mary Ellen PETRIE on 28th August, 1884 in Queensland - one known child, Olive Grant PINNOCK born 14th June, 1890 in Queensland
He served during the Boer War as Captain in the 1st Queensland Mounted Infantry - he is mentioned as serving in the British Army in 1905 - in 1914 there was an article in the New South Wales Police Gazette and he was listed as a missing person
