Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

Also enlisted in 1917 for WW1 but was discharged medically unfit prior to embarking.

When Frank Poole enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as J. Wilson, Charleville. In the original Nominal Roll for the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent for service in South Africa, held by National Archives, it is noted that John Wilson was actually a friend that he nominated as his N.O.K.

In 1917 he enlisted again for WW1 at Brisbane and on his Attestation Form dated 24 May 1917 he noted; he was born at Hampshire, England, and was 43 years 3 months of age; he was single and working as a Drover; his N.O.K. was his sister Mrs. Lizzie Harvey, Millwood, South Australia; and he had previously served with the 5th QIB in South Africa. After he enlisted he was found to be medically unfit due to Parisis to his left side, the result of a horse falling on him while working at Bowen some 6 months prior, and discharged.
