When Ernest Lesleigh Price enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father S. Price Snr., Upper Roma St, Brisbane.

He was born on 26 Feb 1882 in Brisbane, Queensland, a son to Septimus Price and Louisa Price (nee Kemp). After he returned from his Boer War service he worked a number of occupations in sugar mills in Bundberg and Mackay including Weighbridge Operator later returning to Brisbane where he held various jobs including Postal Assistant, Ticket Seller and Electoral Registrar.
