Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

David William Priest was born on 9 Jun 1879 at Bolton, Lancashire, England, a son to James Priest and Ellen Williams Priest (nee Wynne). He emigrated to Australia with his parents and when he enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB he noted his N.O.K. as James Priest, East Brisbane.

It appears on completion of his Boer War service he returned to England and then made his way back to Queensland. He married Georgina S. Easton (date and location unknown) and they had 4 children, one born while living in the Warwick area.
