Corporal George Henry Prussian (Service No:1298) served in the Boer War with 3rd New South Wales Mounted Rifles, and was a Trooper when he embarked with his Unit on 17 March 1901 from Sydney for Capetown on board the Maplemore. Corporal Prussian embarked from Cape Town on 3 June 1902, disembarking in Albany, Western Australia.

George was born in Grenfell, New South Wales in 1872, fourth of five children of Henry Frederick Prussing (b1856 in Fehmarn Insel, Denmark) and Mary O'Connor (b1843 in New South Wales). Henry arrived in Australia in 1854 on board the Java, and worked in Gundagai as a Labourer and Gold Miner. Henry and Mary married in 1862 in Young, and lived there and in Grenfell where they raised their family and Henry was a Bookmaker and Goldminer. Henry died in 1876 and Mary in 1890.

George was a Miner in Grenfell, New South Wales before enlisting in the Boer War, and following his disembarkation in Albany, Western Australia in 1902, lived in Fremantle where he worked as a Labourer. In 1906 in Perth he married Mary Theresa Migro (b1880 in Avenal, Victoria) - Mary had arrived in Fremantle in 1902 on board the Wollowra and lived in Northam. George and Mary lived in Fremantle and Bunbury, where George worked as a Labourer and Carpenter. Following Mary's death in 1912, George lived in Yilgarn, Nannup and Boddington where he worked as a Wood Cutter and Timber Hewer. George died in 1955.
