17 May 1901:	Discharged Australian and Colonial Military Forces - Boer War Contingents, Private, 79, 2nd Queensland Mounted Infantry, National Archives Australia- Boer War Dossier notes returned to Australia aboard Tongariro arriving Brisbane 3 May 1901, assumed discharged 17 May 1901 as for others in this arrival.

Charles Reid served twice in the South African (Boer) War, first as a Private (S.N. 79) in the 2nd Queenslnd Mounted Infantry and secondly as a Corporal (S.N. 1967) in the 3rd Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse.
