When William Henry Richards enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. J. Richards, 17 Union St, Spring Hill. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 83, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. E. Richards, 17 Union St, Spring Hill.
William Henry Richards was born on 24 Oct 1873 in Queensland, a son to John Lamacraft Richards and Esther Reed Richards (nee Rusk). When he passed in 1954 he was residing at "Campsie Glen" 158 Kennedy Tce, Paddington, Brisbane.
