Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

Served in the South African (Boer) war and also served in WW1, Corporal S.N. 3268, 25th Infantry Battalion, AIF.

When William Richardson enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his mother Mrs. T. Richardson, William St, Bundaberg.

When he enlisted again in 1915 for WW1 his Attestation Paper, dated 2 Jul 1915, noted that; he was born at Ibblestow, England, and was 41 years 6 months of age; he was married and a labourer; his N.O.K. was his wife Mrs, Elizabeth Ellen Richardson, Crofton St, Bundaberg; and he had previously served in South Africa.

William Richardson was born in about 1874 at Ibblestow (Hibaldstow), England, a son to Thomas Richardson and Martha Richardson (nee Holloway, note she remarried after Thomas passed to John Mathieson). William married Elizabeth Ellen Harrison on 19 May 1909 in Queensland and they had 2 children.
