Egbert Mead Roberts was born in 1880 in Sydney, New South Wales, a son to Amos Mead Roberts and Agnes Roberts (nee Coulter).

He married Anna Christina Wagner (a descendant of Heinrich Wagner of Toowoomba) on 18 Aug 1903 at Gatton, Queensland. They had 3 children while living in the Gatton and Nanango areas before she passed away in Dec 1918.

He married again on 14 Jun 1919 to Mary Louise Mayo in Queensland.
