Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

Arthur Campbell Robertson served in the South African (Boer) War as a Private S.N. 34 (rising in rank to Corporal, then Sergeant) in the 4th Queensland Imperial Bushmen. Murray, p. 475 indicates he was further promoted to Lieutenant on transfer to the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen but he does not appear on the nominal roll for that contingent.

He was born in Brisbane on 25 Jul 1877 as the last child of Francis Robertson and Elizabeth Campbell. He was the grandson of Isabella Grant, of Penmenshell Hall, Scotland, and a grand nephew of Sir Francis Grant of Scotland. After returning from the war he married, Martha Jane Busch, on 26 Nov 1902 and they had four children.
