Note- full name Dugald James Robertson.
Murray, in his compilation of the AWM Boer War Nominal Roll on p. 504 to 505, notes members of the 5th QIB who enrolled/enlisted in South Africa.
D. J. (Dugald James) Robertson enrolled in South Africa with the 5th QIB and as such was not recorded on the original nominal roll for the 5th Queensland (Imperial Bushmen) Contingent held by National Archives. He is also not recorded in the Boer War Service Paybooks of the 5th QIB. He is recorded in The Brisbane Courier, 16 May 1902, where it is noted, 526, Private D. J. Robertson, remained in South Africa for further service when the 5th QIB embarked to return to Australia.
Reference was made to the Anglo Boer War research web site where his name is recorded as Dugald James Robertson. It also notes that it appears following his service with the 5th QIB he enlisted with the Canadian Scouts on 23 May 1902 serving until discharge on 20 Jun 1902. It further notes based on research of the nominal roll on WO127 of the National Archives UK, that his N.O.K. was recorded as his mother J. Robertson, Otago, New Zealand.
