Also served in WW1, Private S.N. 3471, 4th Pioneer Battalion AIF.
When Henry Malcolm Rogers enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. E. Rogers, Grovely. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 34, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his wife Mrs. E. Rogers, Grovely.
He enlisted again for WW1, Private S.N. 3471 in the 4th Pioneer Battalion, AIF. On his Attestation Paper dated 20 Jul 1915 he noted; he was born at Middle Head, NSW, and was 41 years 7 months old; he was a farmer at Ormiston, Qld, and his N.O.K. was his wife Mrs. Eva Rogers; and that he previously served in the Boer War with the QIB.
Henry Malcolm Rogers was born on 3 dec 1873 at either Middle Head or Milson's Point, Sydney, NSW, a son to Harry Foott Rogers and Sarah Jane Rogers (nee Withers). He married Eva Cribb of Grovely on 14 Feb 1901, just before departing for the Boer War, and they had 6 children.
He had prior interest in the military, his father was served in the NSW Artillery and Henry himself served with the Permenant Garrison in NSw before moving to Qld in 1899. Following his move he was posted to the garrison at Thursday Island. After being wounded in the Boer War and returned to Australia, he spent a number of years stationed at Lytton before traveling to various parts of Qld. After returning from serving again in WW1 in France, he moved to the Redland Bay area and farmed fruit on a farm at Ormiston and later Thornlands.
He had an active interest in the local community; a 11 year member (4 as president) of the Redland sub-branch of the Returned Soldiers League; and was a past president of the Cleveland Citizens' Band, the swimming club, and the Cleveland Fruit Growers Association. He was attending a dance at the Cleveland Memorial Hall, for which he had fund raised for its construction, when he collapsed suffering a heart attack.
