4 Apr 1901: Embarked Australian and Colonial Military Forces - Boer War Contingents, Private, 5, 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, AWM Boer War Unit Details, Murray p. 506 notes 6th QIB embarked at Pinkenba 4 Apr 1901 aboard Victoria arriving Cape Town 2 May 1901.
2 May 1901: Involvement Australian and Colonial Military Forces - Boer War Contingents, Private, 5, 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, AWM Boer War Nominal Roll, Murray p. 510, notes he was seriously injured enroute to South Africa aboard Victoria. As reported in newspapers he was admitted to Cape Town Hospital after arriving 2 May 1901.
11 Oct 1901: Discharged Australian and Colonial Military Forces - Boer War Contingents, Private, 5, 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen, Qld State Archives- Boer War Service Paybooks 6th QIB, Bk 1 p. 26, note tht at his request he was discharged in South Africa on 11 Oct 1901.

When George Seymour enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. McIlree, Kanbobni, NSW. In the original nominal roll for the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, his N.O.K. was recorded his sister Mrs. McIlree, Khancobin (Khancoban), NSW.

In the AWM Nominal Roll compiled by Murray, p. 510, it is noted he was seriously injured enroute to South Africa aboard Victoria. As reported in newspapers including The Telegraph (Brisb), 22 May 1901, p. 6, he was admitted to Cape Town Hospital after arriving in South Africa. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 1 p. 26, it is noted that at his request he was discharged in South Africa on 11 Oct 1901.
