When Oliver Beauchamp St John enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his mother Mrs. H. J. St John, Warwick.

Oliver Beauchamp St John was born on 9 Mar 1883 at Warwick, a son to Henry Jervis St John and Jane St John (nee Horton). Newspaper report in 1902 indicates he was discharged in South Africa to take up employment prior to the 5th QIB returning to Australia. He was back in Australia by 1907 when he married Margaret Elizabeth Curnow on 29 Apr 1907 in Sydney.
