Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

When Charles Henry Stuart enlisted in 1901 and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his father J. Stuart, Kangaroo Point. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB Bk 1, p. 50, he noted  again his father as N.O.K., and that Charles himself was living at Wellington Rd, East Brisbane.

Charles Henry Stuart was born on 5 Nov 1879 in Queensland, a son to James Stuart and Emily Stuart (nee Dark). His mother had passed in 1883 and his father had remarried in 1886 to Mary Kelly prior to Charles enlisting and embarking.
