When Herbert Thomas Taylor enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as his sister Mrs. Clare Alexander, Q. N. Bank, Mount Morgan. His sister Ethel Sophia Taylor had married Clare Alexander in 1891.
Herbert Thomas Taylor was born on 15 May 1870 in Queensland, a son to Walter Samuel Taylor and Barbara Georgina Herbert Taylor (nee Morphy).
