FUNERAL OF BOER
WAR VETERAN
A LARGE crowd attended the funeral at Bicheno this week of one of Southern Tasmania's Boer War veterans, Mr. Charles Alexander Telford, aged 72, who lived in retirement at Bicheno. Mr. Telford enlisted for the Boer War in Victoria, and came to Tasmania 16 years ago. He lived at Bicheno most of the time, and took an active part in the activities of the Bicheno Progress Association. Extension of hydro-electric power in the Bicheno district was one of his main interests. He is survived by his wife, of Bicheno, three sons, and a daughter, all residing on the Mainland.
The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. W. F. Paton. Chief mourners were his two sons, Messrs. Jack and Colin Telford ; two brothers-in-law Messrs. H. and A. Johnston ; and two nephews, Messrs. D. and B. Johnston. The Glamorgan branch of the R.S.L. was represented at the funeral.
