TIFFEN.— On November 12, at the resisidence of Mr. and Mrs. Chapman, 20 Percy-street, Prahran, his friends, John William, an old Boer war veteran, aged 93.

When John William Tiffen enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mrs. S. Jenkins, South Broken Hill, NSW. In the original nominal roll for the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, it is noted his N.O.K. was his sister.

In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 166, it is noted he recieved a travel pass following his discharge to travel to Cairns and later gave his address as Mareeba and then Atherton Hotel, Atherton.
