When Conrad Arnold William Trenkner enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Henry Trenkner, Warwick. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 13, his first given name is recorded as Konrad and it notes he directed part of his pay to his brother Mr H. Trenkner, Gympie.

Konrad (Conrad) Arnold William Trenkner was born on 25 Oct 1881 in Queensland, a son to Karl August Wilhelm Trenkner and Maria Turner Trenkner (nee Chambers). After returning from South Africa he ventured to New Zealand. While residing at Turakina on the North Island he married Eida (Edith) Ellen Simonsen on 27 May 1908 at Rongatea and they had at 2 children.
