Joseph Francis VARDY was born on 20th May, 1874 in Campbelltown, NSW
His parents were Michael Andrew John VARDY & Mary Ellen Frances DOWNING who married in St Benedicts Church on 19th August, 1873

Joseph Francis Vardy (full name Joseph Francis Bede Vardy) was the son of Michael Andrew John Vardy who at the time of his enlistment was Police Magistrate at Campbelltown NSW. Sometime after completing his Boer War service he returned to South Africa where he was a farmer when he married Muriel Violet Irene Newlands on 31 August 1908 at Durban, South Africa. They had at least one child in South Africa but no further records can be found.
