James Augustus Whitaker was born on 20 Mar 1880 at Maryborough, Queensland, a son to Charles Whitaker and Mary Ann Whitaker (nee King). He married Jessie Rose Lenthall on 28 Sep 1904 in Queensland and they had 8 children.
