Arthur Biron Whitmee was born in London, England around 1870 and emigrated to Australia with parents and siblings arriving in Rockhampton in 1876. After spending time in Sydney they returned to Rockhampton and Mount Morgan where he was living as a single man when he enlisted in the 3rd Queensland Contingent.
After returning from the war he married Katrina Charlotte Holm on 9 Feb 1902. He was working as a Waterside Worker on the wharves in Rockhampton when he died as a result of a work accident. His great-great nephew noted Arthur was killed when a vehicle being unloaded from a ship fell and crushed him.
