Biography contributed by Claude McKelvey

When James Carrie Wilson enlisted in 1901 in the 6th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 13 Apr 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as John Wilson, Holden St, Ashfield, Sydney. In the original nominal roll for the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, held by National Archives, his N.O.K. is recorded as his father.

James Carrie Wilson was born on 30 Mar 1877 at Dundee, Scotland, a son to John Wilson and Agnes Wilson (nee Carrie). The Boer War Service Paybooks for the 6th QIB, Bk 2 p. 154, notes he was discharged in South Africa on 16 May 1902, its assumed to take up employment there. It appears he remained in South Africa passing there in about 1957.
