When James Aquilla Young enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB and his details were published with the rank and file in The Queenslander, 16 Mar 1901, he noted his N.O.K. as Mr. J. Young, Milton. In the Boer War Service Paybooks for the 5th QIB, Bk 1 p. 55, it is noted he directed part of his pay to his mother Mrs. J. Young, Milton.

James Aquilla Young was born on 22 Apr 1872 at Brisbane, a son to James Young and Emma Young (nee Adsett). He married Ada Marion Willoughby on 3 Jan 1906 in Queensland and they had 6 children. They were last residing at Manly, Brisbane, when he passed in 1944.
