EDRIC ATHOL DAWSON was born at Forbes, New South Wales, on 12th December, 1890. His parents were Mr. Reginald Weston Dawson (of the Commercial Bank, Braidwood) and Mrs. Margaret Dawson, and he was educated at the Forbes and Braidwood Public Schools.

He entered the Bank of New South Wales’ service at Henty, New South Wales, on 27th November, 1908; was transferred in October, 1909, to Goulburn; in January, 1911, to Temora; in April, 1912, to Taralga, as assistant; in November, 1913, to Burwood, as ledger-keeper; and in July, 1914, to Bathurst Street, Sydney.

Edric Dawson enlisted on 12th May, 1915, in the 17th Battalion, A.I.F. He took part in the Gallipoli Campaign, and afterwards fought in France from 1916 until August, 1918. He was in the Battle of Pozieres and several other engagements, until the last great Allied offensive in August, 1918, when on 10th August he was hit by a shell at Framerville and died soon afterwards.
