Biography

From the book Fallen Saints -   Thomas Weston Tuxford of Double Bay New South Wales was born in Adelaide on 11 September 1865. After leaving school, he became an accountant and was at one time the proprietor of the Bowden Hotel on the outskirts of Adelaide.

He was rejected for service overseas with AIF due to age (51) but because of his qualifications in accountancy was enlisted for home service with the Australian Army Pay Corps. He enlisted as a corporal on 6 November 1916, was promoted to sergeant in May 1918 and served in pay section at Victoria Barracks Sydney, New South Wales.

Sergeant Thomas Weston died of Pneumonic Influenza and Cardiac failure at 3rd Australian General Hospital Randwick New South Wales on 21 June 1919; he was 53 years of age.

His son, Sergeant Reginald Tuxford was originally listed as absent without leave in France until it was later confirmed he had been killed in action on 3 May 1917 while serving with the 21st Battalion in France.
