At age 17 Private Walsh enlisted under the name of Richmond Ambrose Walsh (his elder brothers name), correspondence in 1962 to CARO confirmed his name as Andrew Clement Walsh. Private Walsh enlisted at the same time as another elder brother 220 Francis Raphael Walsh.
