James Allen Arnot was the son of James and Eleanor Trotter Arnot.

Born in Prestoupans, Scotland in 1892, James later moved to Australia in 1912 at the age of 20, and lived at 12 Batten Street, Launceston, Tasmania. James was a Labourer prior to enlisting.

At the age of 22, Arnott was seriously wounded at Gallipoli and died of his wounds at a latewr date. James was buried in the Chatby Military and War Memorial Cemetery.
