In March 1915, Nurse Lucy Beeby was Matron of the Tweed District Hospital in NSW when she left to give her services at the front.
She was among the fifteen nurses chosen for the British War Office, who left Northern NSW for Melbourne to join the P. and O. boat Malwa, which sailed at London on 6th April.
She served with Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service for three and a half years active service in Egypt, Salonika, and England.
She returned to Australia in July 1918 and became the Matron of Lismore Hospital the following year.
