Daughter of Eliza nee Woolnough and Frederick Frost.
Prior to enlistement, she was Matron at the Cowell Hospital.
Winifred enlisted with the Queen Alexanda's Nursing Service in 1915 and served at Gallipoli and Egypt.
She married Warrant Officer Albert Charles Short whilst they were in Egypt.
She lived to the age of 80. Her plaque is at Centennial Park Cemetery
