In 1966 James Edward Dowie was awarded a Life Membership of the RSL. james was a member of the State sub branch from 29/4/1946 to 31/12/1955 he then transferred to the St. Peters. He was president of St Peters from 1963 to 65, Immediate Past President 1966 and stewart 8 years, Social committe 1 years, Hospital visitor entertained paients at club rooms. he undertook the Hall and grounds maintenance. James also helped the sub branch out of debt and to have a fixed deposit credit. he raised money for the war Veterans Homes, Poppy Day badge sales. Attended ANZAC Day dawn services. james was a contributor to the Building Fund for the club rooms of the RSL.. Indoor bowls 1966 State singles campion. He played Father Christmas and loved entertaining children.
James was and Honourary member of the SA Paratroopers Association 10 years. He served as president 2/33 Battalion Association Club. RSL delegate to the St. Peters Civil Defence. Associate member for the Elderly Citizens St Peters Club.
