Biography contributed by Paul O'Bree

Frank O'Bree was the eldest son of Emma and Robert O'Bree (of Boundary Bend). At 8 years of age, he rode a horse to school at Narrung for 12months and never missed a day. Although he had a 7 mile walk the day the horse got out.

Later, Carrie, Ron and Ted went to Narrung School with Frank in a dog cart driven by Pat Murphy. After a while an aboriginal named Eddie Pearse took over the reins and one day while going to school in the pouring rain, the horse wandered off the track, one wheel went over a stump, tipping the cart, kids and all into the mud. Their combined efforts failed to get the cartback onto its wheels, so Eddie rode the horse to Heywards for assistance.

This incident brought the school days at Narrung to an abrupt end. Schooling was then held in the dining room of the drop log building at Boundary Bend, Frank attended classes here for 2 years but missed a number of years between Narrung and Boundary Bend before finally leaving at the age of 14 years.
