Pte 3888 Malcolm King's remains and identity disc were recovered in October 1928 (in the Pozieres region) and re-interred at the Serre Road Cemetery No.2, near Beaumont-Hamel.

Malcolm King, aged 23, enlisted in the AIF in Melbourne on 12 July 1915.

He embarked overseas on 23 November 1915 and was taken on strength of the 5th Battalion in Egypt on 22 February 1916.

He departed Egypt on 25 March and arrived in Marseilles, France on 30 March 1916.

The 5th Battalion entered the Battle of Pozieres on 23 July 1916, and it was here two days later, on 25 July 1916, that Pte 3888 Malcolm King was killed in action.

His remains and identity disc were recovered by the Imperial War Graves Commission in October 1928 (in the Pozieres region) and subsequently re-interred at the Serre Road Cemetery No.2, near Beaumont-Hamel, at around the same time.
