John Howie Williams was born in 1894. He was born in St Peters, South Australia. His parents W.J. and E. Williams later on moved to Hawker. Before enlisting in the war he moved the Richmond where he worked as a farmer. He was 5'7 and weighed 151 lbs. He had blue eyes with short brown hair.
He was enlisted into the AIF, 0th Battalion as a Private on the 20th of March 1917. In his first few months of the war, he constantly when in and out of the hospital due to mumps. He was admitted 3 times from the 25th of June till the 31st of July.
During the month leading up to his death, John Howie Williams and the 10th battalion spent their time going in between the northern France front lines. On the 30th of May 1918, John Howie Williams spent his last day, counter-attacking the Germans but tragically, along with 12 others, he was killed.
