George William Herbert Wormald, son of George Wormald and Mildred Muriel Payne, was born 30 May 1911 in Sydney, New south Wales. 

Educated at Sydney Grammar School, George was a salesman prior to enlisting at Paddington on 15 March 1940. 

George served on continuous full time war service in the AIF until 27 February 1946. His service was predominately overseas, majority of which is noted as being in operational areas including the United Kingdom and Middle East. 

Though he considered remaining in the army, George ultimately became an accountant and resided on Sydney's Northern Beaches until his passing in 1983. He was survived by his wife, son and daughter.
