When William Richard Duncan Sullivan was born on 31 July 1921 in Shepparton, Victoria, his father, William, was 25 and his mother, Alice, was 22.
He married Dorothy Rose Hooper on 5 May 1947 in Melbourne, Victoria. They had one child during their marriage. He died on 2 February 1991 at the age of 69
