Neville comes from a long line of family who have served during war time.
His grandfather's brother went ashore during WW1 at Gallipoli. His father and uncle both served during WW2.
Neville was not called up for National Service so consequently, he joined the regular army. He completed his basic training at Kapooka near Wagga Wagga and his Corp training at Puckapunyal.
He applied to go to Vietnam and he arrived at Nuidat at the Australian Task Force in April 1970. He served there for 12 months and returned to Australia.
Both photos are of Neville after returning to the base and the second one is of him with his best mate Trevor King outside Neville's tent.
Neville and Trevor were the best of friends even if they didn't always see eye to eye. One afternoon, they had a fight about absolutely nothing resulting in Trevor giving Neville the best broken nose he had ever had! After the fight, they went to the bar and had a drink together - still best mates!
Trevor sadly passed away in 2013. He will always be remembered.
