His rank was Lieutenant ; he was 30 and the son of William and Clara Farmer, of "Montrose," Musgrave St., Mosman, Sydney, New South Wales.

His brother, Private Aubrey Farmer, D.C.M., aged 23, also fell. He died between the dates of 29/04/1915 and 06/06/1915 whilst serving with the 3rd Bn. Australian Infantry, A.I.F., and having no known grave, is commemorated at Panel 20 on the Lone Pine Memorial.
