Herbert Allan Sato was born in Campsie, New South Wales, Ausstralia, on the 18 October 1923. He was born to a Scottish Mothere and a Japanese Father, in time when inter racial marriages were not easily accepted.
Growing up in Campsie was a harsh life. In his early life he suffered the pain of discrimination and like many of his age the deprivation of the Great Depression. These hard times in many ways built his sense of humanity, tolerance and belief in fairness.
Dad was a man who did not sit on the sidelines of life. His community committments included being President of the local branch of a Political Party. President of Punchbowl Soccer Club and Competetion Secretary of the Canterbury Bankstown Tennis Association.
As children growing up he became active in our in all sections of our lives. He was always there to support us with encouragement even when we failed, he told us to believe in ourselves.
I cannot think of a man more devoted his children and grandchildren. He was a very active man and a good sportsman. He won his last tennis trophy at the age of 70 years.
Dad beleived death is a part of the journey of life.
He will always be dealry missed by his family.
