Son of Arthur William Wellesley Appleton & Sarah Ann Appleton née Lewis

Cyril died at Williamstown as a result of injuries accidentaly received by falling out the train between Giffard and Parker Streets, Williamstown.

At the magisterial enquiry concerning the death of Cyril Wellesley Appleton, 25 Union street, Windsoer, aged 28, held last Saturday, Mr Lonsdale found that the deceased, who was a soldier, fell out of the  train ast the Giffard st. crossing and was run over by the same train on its way back to the city shortly after ten o'clock at night. He was too seriously injured by the fall to move from the rails on which he fell.
