Roy Edward Walsh was a man who valued others. He won the Military Medal duirng his service in Rabaul in Papua New Guinea. He was a man who others could depend on in war times and in peace. He continued his associaiton with his war service and "mates" by being an active member of the Bedford, Western Australia, RSL. He marched in the ANZAC Day Parade every year and proudly wore his medals. At his funeral his eulogy was delivered by a senior member of the RSL and an Australian flag was draped over his coffin. His children and grand children stil march on his behalf each ANZAC Day.
