Verna Mary Litchfield was the daughter of Lester Verner Litchfield a World War I machine gunner who also gave service during World War II.
Aircraftwoman Litchfield enlisted at Wooloomooloo, New South Wales in 1943 and was posted to Airforce Headquaters in Melbourne. The nineteen year old from Newcastle boarded with the parents of her future husband at Coburg. She was responsible for documenting the RAAF activities overseas and the personnel who were injured or killed in battle.
She married Leading Aircaftman Kenneth Joseph Wilson (1924-2000) just prior to discharged in 1946. He would pursue a career in the RAAF after the war rising to the rank of Squadron Leader. The couple raised two children.
Verna Mary Wilson died at Warrimoo, New South Wales at the foot of the Blue Mountains in 1991.
