Full Army Service

Pre W.W.2, Bruce Ian Walker was a member of the Aust. Tank Corps - NSW Militia Forces between 1935 - 1937.
On 27th February 1940, Bruce applied to Enlist for Service in Australia or abroad at the recruitment centre, Engineers Drill Hall, Moore Park road, Paddington. On 7th May 1940, he received his army number NX14205. After training, he became a qualified Lineman & Wireless operator and joined the Signals Corps. In 1941-42, while on active service in North Africa his letters home state he is with No1 Company, No3 Line Section, 1 Australian Corps Signals AIF however another letter mentions he is now with The Cable & Line Section - Signal Training Battalion.
In 1942-43, Bruce also served on active service for eleven months in New Guinea with the Signals Corps.
On 7th June 1948 Bruce is discharged from the AMF and on the 8th June 1948 starts service as a sergeant with the RASR at Eastern Command, Sydney with his new army number 2/45512.
On 31 December 1961, Bruce is discharged and finishes his Army service after 21 years.
